Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in television, film and theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer in The Showtime series Soul Food. Her name is currently her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. Her acting talent was evident from childhood. In a Maryland high school contest gave her with the award for best actress. She earned her acting degree from the New York University after working for 'The Washington Ballet Company' and on stage. She received a lot of praise after her debut large part in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. Following this, she starred in movies such as "Boogie Nights Spark" and "Blue Streak". Her performance in the TV show Soul Food' was immensely well-received. Her appearances were in TV programs such as Second Time Around, and Empire. Contractor who was born in Mumbai living in Nigeria at the age of was seven years old, had a lot of knowledge about world cultures and traveling in such a short time. She attended boarding schools between the ages of 7 until 9 in London. After that her family returned in Toronto (Canada) where they were raised for her entire life. Contractor was a brilliant student in Toronto and was trained as an expert ballet dancer. She was a student at an Etobicoke School of the Arts an specialized arts public high school in which she was not just a dancer but studied theater as well. Contractor aged 16 at the time she realized that acting was going to become her profession. Dance was her passion for a decade. Upon graduating from high school she was awarded a full award to Toronto's University of Toronto, where she completed a masters degree in theater and a dual major in sociology and psychology. Contractor landed her first role after a year of university. Her performance received rave reviews. her performance on the stage in 92 productions. the play was voted as the best production by Canadian reviewers in 2002. She was offered the opportunity to join Stratford Conservatory. It is a private institution that accepts just eight men as well as four female students to take a course in the art of classical theatre. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor's participation in the next season's production was confirmed. She got the part in Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
